Question about loans

How do student loans work, and what are my options for applying for graduate student loans?
I want to apply for a Master's Program at Copenhagen University… but have no money! Where exactly do I start? I know very little about student loans in general, and especially little about them when studying internationally, especially at the graduate level. Do I need to talk to the University? How do direct to consumer loans work? Is it super difficult to get student loans?

@dayme00 At least it’s not like that garbage Judge Alex crap. Where in the end, no matter how much they hated each other during the case, are “forced” to say nothing but good things and how “pleased” they are with the “fair” decision of the judge. That show is so scripted it’s not even funny.

But I know what you’re saying about how she just doesn’t get the friggin’ point. Dude’s a dummy for thinking he should pay, too. He doesn’t.

  3. I got a payday loan last month from Spotya.com

I agree with the lady who says ":Don't do it", and I don't have a masters degree in accounting. But I can read!

Credit card cash advances can provide consumers with convenient and instant access to "cold cash" in times of financial need, but cash advances should be avoided if at all possible. Informed consumers realize that cash advances are typically accompanied by fees and exorbitant interest rates (there is also no grace period for cash advances). Moreover, cash advances can be a major stumbling block for consumers seeking debt relief. We hope the following tips help consumers avoid the pitfalls associated with cash advances.

    * Fees for cash advances vary, but fees can be very costly. Fees are computed using two calculation methods. Many card issuers calculate fees on a percentage basis, which typically ranges from 1% to 4%. Other issuers charge "flat fees" for advances. "Flat fees" are not based on the amount of the advance and, therefore, are always the same.

An increasing trend is to combine both calculation methods. Combining calculation methods results in higher cash advance fees. An example of this would be an issuer that charges x% for an advance, but charges a minimum of $10 regardless of the amount of the advance. Another example would be an issuer that charges x% for an advance or $20, whichever is greater. Read the terms of your card agreement carefully. Fee calculation can get tricky.

A few issuers do not charge any fees at all. This is very rare, though.

Finally, if you must get an advance, avoid using ATM machines. ATMs charge an additional fee for advances. This fee is charged by the financial institution that owns the ATM.

    * Often the greatest potential pitfall for consumers who decide to get a cash advance involves finance or interest charges. The interest rate for cash advances is often several points higher than the normal purchase interest rate (the rate that is associated with everyday card purchases). Cash advance rates normally range from 20% to 25%. In contrast, the average purchase rate for a standard credit card ranges from 15.88% to 17.30% according to. However, a few issuers charge the same rate for both purchases and cash advances "Low Rate Report" for more info).

Other finance charge pitfalls involve grace periods and the payment method that a card issuer utilizes. Cash advances begin accruing interest immediately and, therefore, are not subject to a grace period. Thus, even if you pay your card balance in full when your bill arrives, you will still be accessed a finance charge for any advances.

A similar pitfall involves the manner in which payments are applied to your account. Most issuers apply payments to card purchases before they apply payments to cash advances (i.e. payments are first applied to purchases). If you carry a balance on your card, this can result in your a dramatic increase in your finance charges and overall interest rate.

    * Please be aware that any "credit card checks" that you receive in the mail are usually treated as cash advances! Card issuers often tout such checks as an easy way to pay off the bill of your choice or to acquire some extra spending money. While using a check may be convenient, it can be extremely costly. Many balance transfers are also treated as cash advances.

*Cash advances are so tempting that some cardholders fall victim to the "cash advance trap" and find themselves caught in a vicious cycle.

@FLPman I never said that I believed that he would actually pay her. I was just saying that I was surprised that he said that he would pay her.

  8. Try a shopping center- they need extra people around the holidays. Also the Post Office always needs extra hands this time of year, and they pay more!

But spiritually, pray and anoint your hands about work. Ask God for guidance, he will open a door.

    God Bless!

PS- I wouldn't take out a loan because you don't have a way to pay it yet. Most of the places that will give you loans like that are predatory lenders. It's better to let the bills lapse!

  10. If you go up against an insurance company, expect a long fight. They have the money to where they would keep things going as long as possible in the court system. It is you who may be hurting, but you just have to be strong about it. Your lawyer is just doing what he/she can, just keep up the fight and do not give up!

My firm is very experienced with dealing with merchant advances. You are correct, you can get an advance on future credit card sales without applying for a loan. It is fairly easy to qualify, the process is usually very quick (funds are usally disbursed within 5 days of application), and the repayment terms are very reasonable.

The only drawback of a merchant advance is that the cost of money is often greater than getting a traditional bank loan. However, most business owners who apply for a merchant advance have already been turned down by the bank, or just want a fast and easy way tp obtain capital, and they understand that's just "the cost of doing business".

If you have a strong business and credit history, I would recommend you check with your bank. Otherwise, a merchant cash advance is a very viable way to get the funds you need to expand your business.

  12. Yikes!!! You may want to try looking at Prosper.com, but you'd probably be put in the "no credit" segment. You may want to consider going to a pawn shop for a temporary loan. You may also want to look into getting a business credit card. I had no credit history and was approved for a few thousand dollars. (I still got offers after I closed my business.)

rare to hear someone say they’ll pay; rarer still if they really do pay: we need a follow-up show.

Go to your bank and discuss a cash advance loan with them. In emergencies, often a bank is more understanding than you might think .

Sometimes the Salvation Army will pull through as well,if you have one in your area.

Sounds like you need to get a part time job or something in addition to your husband's job, something close to where you are. You have a few months yet I would assume – if you earned $7 an hour, 24 hours a week, you would take home approximately $150 a week after taxes. 5 months of that would bring you $3000. You could probably get a decent car at an auction sale for $1500.

    Just a thought

Easy enough jobs you can do; receptionist, hotel desk clerk, sales associate at a store, etc

  18. I once took out a loan without reading the terms properly. This was largely because I was glad for the approval and was too eager to seal the deal. Up to date, I am still paying for that mistake.
