Sounds like you need to get a part time job or something in addition to your husband's job, something close to where you are. You have a few months yet I would assume – if you earned $7 an hour, 24 hours a week, you would take home approximately $150 a week after taxes. 5 months of that would bring you $3000. You could probably get a decent car at an auction sale for $1500.

Easy enough jobs you can do; receptionist, hotel desk clerk, sales associate at a store, etc

Yikes!!! You may want to try looking at Prosper.com, but you'd probably be put in the "no credit" segment. You may want to consider going to a pawn shop for a temporary loan. You may also want to look into getting a business credit card. I had no credit history and was approved for a few thousand dollars. (I still got offers after I closed my business.)

If you go up against an insurance company, expect a long fight. They have the money to where they would keep things going as long as possible in the court system. It is you who may be hurting, but you just have to be strong about it. Your lawyer is just doing what he/she can, just keep up the fight and do not give up!
