I am sorry to say, honestly, there isnt anyone who lends directly to you- since your school wont certify anymore- take that extra money, then the only other option is to use a credit card. You may wish to re-evaluate your situation and your expenses, as your school has a certification amount for a reason (its what they feel you should need to cover your living expenses and tuition). If your going over, you may be spending too much as a student.
You may qualify for state assistance such as health insurance etc if you apply, as a student you cant get food stamps, but wic etc if you have a child.
Otherwise, ask if you can petition to have that certification amount raised so you can get a larger loan- my school did that for me given they dont take into account child care expenses in the initial certification etc. You will need proof if they offer this option.
Last bet, you may need to transfer to a school that doesnt cost as much if you still can (you may not at this point be able to with having so many credits etc I am not sure).
I know you're probably getting sick of hearing this and you've probably heard this before. But it's true, you're not in quite as bad a place as you could be. First of all, the fact that you even realize you have regrets and that you've wasted opportunities is a good sign; it means you're not a complete idiot and you can hope to change. You haven't actually killed anyone, committed an offense that's landed you a life sentence, or been too seriously damaged yourself. I know there must be a lot of pain where you are, but the fact that you can even feel it is good. If you didn't feel pain, you would have absolutely no motivation to change, and your life would continue to suck. I've known people in worse situations than you believe it or not, and whether or not they manage to "get over" the regrets they have depends largely on the attitude– you have to look at your experiences as something to learn from. Of course they regret they did it, but instead of being one of those people who wallows miserably in it for the rest of their lives, they pick up the pieces and put together a whole different puzzle, making sure never to trip up in quite the same way again.
Yes you could be further in life if you'd never done those things, but you stopped yourself soon enough that believe it or not, you've still got quite a while to make something absolutely amazing out of the time you've now got. Then there's this: it sounds cheesy I know, but you know how the greatest artists and composers and musicians and actors are so great? They don't shove their feelings in a box or try to stifle any pain they feel, they use it to create masterpieces. It's kinda hard to explain, but where you are now can be used to get much greater perspective on where you could be–it's still very possible for you to get there.

LesLrie – I've been a CEO of one tech company and a VP at another major tech co. I've also been a COS in the U.S. Congress. I give you this bullet point bio because I've been hiring/firing for 20 years. My advice? YES, without question, your degree is worth it. There is NO substitute for a 4 year degree.
However, be cost conscience. You can get the same results (quality employment) without the massive debt after the fact. You don't need 100K in debt from an uber private/expensive school when you can get a degree from a quality school at less cost. What IS important is that you have a 4 year degree. Avoid trade schools and "certificates". Get a diploma from a university while picking up training in those skills you referenced.
How do you do this? Choose a school like say, hypothetically, Arizona State, U of Virginia, Michigan, whatever…get your GED done in 2 years, then focus the latter 2 years on graphic arts, photography, whatever. Its not going to matter much. Work in your feild while at school
Because when you go for jobs the employer will look at;
1. did you graduate?
2. how good does your work look?
3. can you interview/present yourself well (nobody wants to hire a goober. Be impressive)
One final note, Graphic Artists, Web Designers and Photographers are rarely hired because they come from a blue-blood kind of school. They are hired because theire stuff looks sharp, brave, creative AND CAN PRODUCE PRODUCT QUICKLY. I've got 50 web designers working for me. They all have to have those ingrediants to work for my company (and a degree). None of them went to Harvard, but all of them have a degree, a nose for getting it right the first time, and can work quick.

I don't think there is ever a truly ´right´time to start a family.
If you need time for yourself, such as for studying, then you definitely need to wait until after that. It´s a nightmare trying to study while either pregnant or with an infant….too tiring.
As for finances, well its nice to be reasonably comfortable, but that's about it.
The most important thing is that you're emotionally ready, as an individual and as a couple.
A baby changes everything and you need to be prepared for that.
Whether its putting off that special holiday, the house of your dreams, or just some together time. While all that can be planned when its just the 2 of you, put a child in the picture and it all changes.
So for me its just a question of being ready to put you 2 on the back burner, and if you're ready for that, then you're ready for a family.

Whatever you do, don't you dare get pregnant! That would certainly only make life harder for you, not to mention your poor child.
At most I can only offer you a job lead. I have a friend who just secured employment at the legal counsel's office at the EEOC (If I recall correctly they are on Water street.) She advised me last night they were still hiring and to pass the word. Regardless, she was previously practicing DV/Fam law in Westchester. It's not paying a heap of money but its a secure position with the opportunity to move up possibly to administrative judge. Definitely go into EEOC website… I know its not your field but I have more than a dozen friends who are lawyers and in your position. All are practicing anything they can get there hands on. I know. It's really bad out here especially for those in the legal profession. Best of luck. For the record. We are all in our 40's.
